St Kilda Mums is powered by more than 750 volunteers. Every contribution big and small is valued and babies and children are central to all we do.

Jessica Macpherson - Founder and CEO

Jessica is a founding board member of St Kilda Mums. For the first four years Jessica hosted weekly collections at her own home. In August 2013 she was appointed to the position of CEO. She is widely recognised as the face of of the organisation. In 2017 she was inducted into the Victorian Honour Roll of Women in recognition of her significant contribution to the Victorian community. She stepped down from holding an office bearing position on our board in 2017.

The Board

Meeting every four weeks, the volunteer Board sets the Strategic Direction and oversees governance, financial management and accountability, and signitifcant operational decisions.

Linda Grace - Chair

Linda is a commercial lawyer who has practiced both in private practice and in-house at a number of large corporate organisations.  She has also been involved with a  number of not-for-profit organisations.  Linda joined the board in November 2015 after volunteering in a number of different capacities including bundling at home and serving on the St Kilda Mums Fundraising Sub-Committee.

Deidre Mackechnie - Act Secretary

Deidre is the CEO at Multiple Sclerosis Australia. Deidre has had an extensive career in Health, initially training as a nurse which led to clinical education, followed by a move to Human Resources and subsequent roles in senior management.  Deidre has post graduate qualifications in Education, Human Resource Management and Governance.  She joined the board in 2017.

Jesse Vincent - Treasurer

Jesse joined our board in 2014, having volunteered for a long time in many different ways, most notably in the preparation of reports. Jesse is a registered CPA and has many years of experience in financial management in a number of different industries. She currently works for Ambulance Victoria. 

Stacey Barrass - Vice Chair

Stacey hosts our staging post in Rowville. She is the Managing Director of Goddess Cleaning Group and brings to us knowledge from a varied corporate career spanning Human Resources, Administration and Credit Management. Stacey joined the board in November 2015.

Lorelle Lake - Notes Secretary

Lorelle Lake is a senior fundraiser at Uniting (Vic.Tas). Beginning her career as a graphic designer she has since completed a Masters degree in Marketing and spent over 16 years in marketing and fundraising roles for not for profit organisations. 

A founding member of the Fundraising sub committee, she has supported and coached our CEO in all fundraising activities since 2012. Lorelle joined the board in November 2015.

Karen Massier - Member

Karen is the Executive General Manager Strategy at MAX Solutions Pty Ltd. Karen has a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts from Monash University and has been admitted to practice in the ACT Supreme Court. 

Karen has worked in Government as an adviser and chief of staff to three former Federal Ministers for Employment during the implementation of welfare reform agendas. 

Karen has three young children and any spare time is spent coaching Auskick and baking. She joined the board in 2017.

David Meade - Member

David is the Co-Director Community Health, Rehabilitation and Palliative Care / Director Allied Health at Barwon Health. He lives in Geelong with his family.  David is a Speech Pathologist by background and is passionate about providing kids the best possible start to life.  He is a Williamsons Community Leadership Alumni and joined the board in 2017.

Our Story

We believe that by reusing and recycling much-loved babies' and children's gear, we not only share the joy of motherhood with each other, but we save the earth's precious resources too.

Our Service

St Kilda Mums recycle nursery equipment like cots, prams, and car seats, as well as clothes and other baby essentials.

Our Mission

Our mission is to share the joy of motherhood, in partnership with support agencies, by recycling baby essentials.

Who we help

If you are expecting a baby or need help now you can ask your social worker or maternal child health nurse to contact us on your behalf.
