Who we help

If you are expecting a baby or need help now you can ask your social worker or maternal child health nurse to contact us on your behalf.

St Kilda Mums supports children and parents experiencing hardship. We provide material aid in practical partnership with maternal child health nurses and social service agencies. All donations go directly to the families that they support, and each item to someone who specifically needs it.

We do not support individuals or families directly. If you are expecting a baby or need help now you can ask your social worker or maternal child health nurse to contact us on your behalf. If you do not have a social worker you can contact Child FIRST to have your needs assessed.

Child FIRST is a free service. You need to complete a Child FIRST assessment where they will explore your parenting capacity and needs. This does not guarantee that a case manager will be allocated to you, if they assess alternative community supports can be put in place. For more information please see this website.

The Maternal & Child Health Line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The number is 13 22 29.

If you have serious concerns that a child is in need of protection, a report should be made to Child Protection immediately.

If you are a health professional or work for a social service agency and would like to find out more about our service please read our Collection Policy and contact us using this email address request@stkildamums.org. Our service is provided free of charge and there are no assessment criteria.

We support more than 1500 social workers, midwives, maternal and child health nurses and other professionals from more than 450 social service agencies, hospitals, government departments and local councils.

Our story

We believe that by reusing and recycling much-loved babies' and children's gear, we not only share the joy of motherhood with each other, but we save the earth's precious resources too.

What do we do?

St Kilda Mums recycle nursery equipment like cots, prams, and car seats, as well as clothes and other baby essentials.
