New Chair Announcement

Deidre and Linda

In July 2019, after more than two and half years as Chair, Linda Grace stepped down as Chair to spend more time with her young family and the board elected Deidre Mackechnie as the Chairperson.

Deidre is the CEO at Multiple Sclerosis Australia. Deidre has had an extensive career in Health, initially training as a nurse which led to clinical education, followed by a move to Human Resources and subsequent roles in senior management. Deidre has postgraduate qualifications in Education, Human Resource Management and Governance. She first joined the board in 2017.

"Having raised a child as a single mum, I know how amazing it can be to receive a bit of additional support and what a difference the smallest gesture can make, enabling me to provide my son with a safe, healthy and loving start to life. But not all parents have, or are able to access, their own support and this is where St Kilda Mums plays such an important role, one which I am delighted to be a part of."

Deidre took over the role of Chairperson from Linda Grace who will continue to volunteer as a non-office bearing member.

Linda Grace joined the board in November 2015 after volunteering in a number of different capacities including bundling at home and serving on the St Kilda Mums Fundraising Sub-Committee for three years. She served as Chair from November 2016.

Linda is a mum of three young boys and she became involved with St Kilda Mums shortly after having her first baby. Linda was drawn to St Kilda Mums’ vision and the opportunity to help shape its future.

“Being a mum is hard enough without the struggle to provide basic needs for your baby”.

Linda is a commercial lawyer who has practiced both in private practice and in-house at a number of large corporate organisations. She has also been involved with a number of other not-for-profit organisations.

We would like to welcome Deidre and thank Linda. The role of board chair is a very important one, and we thank them both for their dedication and commitment to our vision of a future where we waste less, share more and care for every baby and child.
