Let a mother know you're thinking of her on Mother's Day. She might be living in a refuge, her house may have burnt down, she might be homeless. You can help her feel supported this Mother’s Day. Your gift might be the only one she receives. It's easy to show a mum you care...just follow these four simple steps!
- Make up a gift bag of women's toiletries - choose a nice toiletry bag and fill it with everything you would need if you had nothing.
- Include a note for the mother to let her know you care.
- Take a photo of your gift pack and post it on facebook, twitter or instagram using the hashtag #onemothertoanother
- Post to 14 Winterton Road, Clayton or drop it off during our opening times by Thursday 30 April.
We will distribute your thoughtful gift to a mum in need.
Does everything have to be new?
We are all about recycling here at St Kilda Mums, but toiletries must be new and unopened. You might like to include a preloved toiletry bag or scarf but please wash it first.
What sort of items should I pack in my toiletry bag?
Some ideas are a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, hairbrush, hair ties, comb, shampoo, conditioner, soap, tampons/pads, sunscreen, body and face moisturiser, cotton buds, cleanser, eye makeup remover, body wash, tissues, hand cream, lip balm, deodorant, face wipes, paw paw cream, band aids or a basic first aid kit. Please don’t include sharps like razors and nail scissors in your bag.
How should I package my gift?
In a toiletry bag or gift box. If you are posting it to us, please place your gift pack inside a robust box and seal with tape. Please wrap any bottles likely to leak in plastic. Please do not gift wrap as our volunteers will check each donation.
What will happen when you receive my gift?
Our volunteers will check the items to ensure they are appropriate and your gift will then be distributed by social workers and maternal child health nurses to mums in need. Where necessary, we will combine your gift with other items. Often these gifts are provided to children so that they have something special to give their mum on Mother’s Day.
I want to help but I don’t have enough items to make up a complete pack.
Not a problem! Why not group together with your friends to make full packs?
I can't make up a special pack, but I would like to help. Can I donate money?
Yes you may. Please click the pink donate $ now button at the top of this page to make a financial donation to our current campaign.
How many packs can I donate?
As many as you like!
When do you need them by?
We need donations to arrive by 30 April please. We help more than 100 families every week so if you send your parcel in later it will still go to a mum in need, just at a later date.
Do I need to be a mother to do this?
Absolutely not, anybody can help!
Can I put up a poster at my work/school/kinder?
Yes, we have an A4 poster that you can print on your home printer and put up anywhere you like.
If you still have questions feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you!
