Our Service

St Kilda Mums recycle nursery equipment including cots, prams and car seats, as well as clothes and other baby essentials.

We take pride in ensuring all items rehomed meet current Victorian safety standards and are in great condition. We give the items to people who are facing a variety of challenges and we want them to feel uplifted when they receive something from us. We see it as giving a gift, packed with love to provide practical support and show that people care about them.

We have three main services:

  • Order and Collect
  • Regional Service
  • Safe Start

Order and Collect

This service is based in St Kilda. We receive requests from Maternal Health Nurses and social workers on behalf of families in need. We then try to meet or exceed each request by providing those families with quality pre-loved donations.

As you might guess, demand always exceeds supply. Prams, car restraints and cots are often rehomed within days of receipt.

Regional Service

Our Regional Service assists families living more outside Melbourne, Geelong or Ballarat.

This service is funded by a generous support from the Ian Potter Foundation and the Gourlay Charitable Trust and with pro bono support from Victorian Freight Specialists.

The fundraising campaign that supports the regional service is called Every Baby Every Town.

Safe Start

The St Kilda Mums Safe Start Project allows us to provide emergency material aid to maternity hospitals, which is then given to families who have received no prenatal support before the birth of their babies. These items include portable cots, prams, clothing, linen and labour bags.

We currently provide emergency material to:

  • The Royal Women’s Hospital
  • Sandringham Hospital
  • The Northern Hospital Epping
  • The Royal Children's Hospital
  • Werribee Mercy Hospital
  • Mercy Hospital for Women (Heidelberg)
  • Sunshine Hospital
  • Angliss Hospital
  • Box Hill Hospital

This project has been made possible with the generous support of Hire for Baby, The Dyson Bequest, The Sentinel Foundation, The Shulu Foundation, The Bruce McMullin Foundation, Besen Family Foundation, and the Naphtali Family Foundation.

You can help ensure the continuity and expansion of this project into other maternity hospitals in Victoria. If you would like to meet with our CEO for a tour of our HQ and to learn more about this project please email her. Thank you!
